Racism

This has always been such a touchy subject for me. I just can't seem to understand how human beings can discriminate other human beings because of the way they look, or what country they (or their parents) were born in. I might take more offense because of my father. -when it comes to him and other people saying racist comments, I flip out. There has even been times where I've cried because of it. My father is a hard working man and deserves every bit of respect. And even though the culture and beliefs he grew up with are totally different than ours, you don't see him stabbing, and going off with guns.

I really thought we were DONE with this subject. I mean, this is year 2008, 40 years after the civil-rights movement was over (at least in America). But apparently people just can't seem to let go of their hate. The last few weeks at my old job, this was the subject that seemed to always come up during lunch-break. First it started off with them blaming some of the immigrants for some of the crime in Norway. Then it escalated into them not wanting ANY immigrants in Norway, and then finally they started talking about the different skin-color being different for a reason. And I was sitting there, with my jaw practically glued to my chest. I could not believe what I was hearing!

Do they not know that EVERY human being descends from the same place? It is not like some people popped up in Europe, some in Asia, some in America and some in Africa. And the place they ended up, is where they had to be forever. NO! People have moved around through ALL time. Would it really be our place to tell every American to please leave American soil, because it originally belonged to the Indians? No, it is not. As of people saying that the immigrants, or black people, or Mexicans in the American case, are more
criminal than others. In some cases that may be right. But has anyone stopped to think that we might be the reason for this? We have always looked down on them, discriminated them, and never showed that they were welcome. That sure would pull me over the edge too.

This subject just makes me sick, really! What SHOULD matter in the end, is how you treat and show respect to the people around you. -no matter WHAT race you are or what nationality you have! I am pretty sure religion is a way bigger cause of war and hatred in the world, than what race is anyway.

All, and nothing

The last week I've mostly been working, and hanging out with some friends. Nothing major, really. On Monday me and my friend Maria stayed up all night and watched the Harry Potter movies. On Friday me and a friend went to Oslo and got my apartment key, and then later we met another friend and ate Tacos and just hung out. Yesterday night I went to my friend, Martine, and got drunk and talked all night long about everything, and nothing. It was kind of nice, because it has been a while since I actually talked with her. I also got my final exam grades a few days ago. And they didn't exactly turn out great. But I am glad to be done with it, and my grade-average isn't too bad either, so I hope I'll still get accepted in the school, and program I want.

I had to pay my rent early, so now I am flat out broke. Not a dime to spare. And it sucks! My friends keep asking me if I want to go out, but I have to decline time, after time because I can't even afford one single beer! And it is not going to get better throughout the summer, because the minute I get paid, I'm going to have to put aside next month’s rent, money for driving-lessons and vacation money for both my Prague-trip and Portugal-trip (which I can't really afford). I know, I know... Luxury problems...

On Thursday I am going to Denmark. I'll have to live of my parents’ money for that trip. There has to be some perks with traveling with mom and dad tongue Right? But before I go freeload of my parents, there is a huge event. -Tonight is the Euro 2008 final, and I am excited as hell! Spain has to win! It would really be great if they did! But it seems as though every team I cheer for, looses, except the semi-finals between Russia and Spain (where Spain won). First I cheered on Portugal, then Croatia, then Holland, then Turkey and they all lost one, by one. I'm starting to think that my cheering gives bad luck.? :tounge: So, I kind of need Spain to prove me wrong. Hehe.

I've been working on a couple of layouts for the site lately. I'm not sure I'll use any of them, or maybe I'll use all someday. Making layouts and coding them is the funny part of this website-ting anyway. At least I think so. That is also why I closed my comments. Before citystreak.com I used to comment on other peoples blogs, just to get comments back. But I'm not interested in that anymore. Now this site is exactly what I wanted it to be, a website for me and me only. If people want to read my blogs, that is great, if they don't, it's also fine. This site is kind of therapeutic for me. It is the only place where I actually can talk (write in this case) about everything I want. And I am only going to read blogs that interest me as well. Maybe I'll open the comments again someday, but for now...
